What is Permanent Makeup Eyeliner?

Permanent makeup eyeliner is a form of cosmetic tattooing in which pigment is implanted into the upper layer of the skin. Unlike traditional tattoos, permanent makeup eyeliner is not intended to be permanent. The dyes used are specifically formulated to fade slowly over time.

PMU eyeliner is a popular treatment that can help to define and enhance the eyes. The pigments used in permanent eyeliner are implanted into the dermis, the layer of skin below the epidermis. This results in a more natural-looking eyeliner than would be possible with traditional tattooing methods. Permanent eyeliner can be applied to the upper and lower lash line and the waterline. It can also be used to create a winged-eye look.

How is it Done?

The first step is a consultation with our artist to discuss your desired look. This is where we will assess whether you are a good candidate for the procedure and answer any questions you have. During this time, we will discuss the color and shape of your desired eyeliner look.

In the first session, we begin by cleaning and numbing the area around your eyes. Once numb, we will use a fine needle to deposit pigment into the skin. The amount of time this takes will depend on how dense you want the color to be and the design of your desired eyeliner shape.

After the pigment is implanted, the area will be cleaned, and a skin ointment will be applied. You can expect some swelling and redness in the days following the procedure. The result of your permanent makeup eyeliner will be visible after 4-6 weeks. Once healed, you will be left with long-lasting, beautiful eyeliner.

PMU Eyeliner Healing Stages

Just like any other type of Permanent Makeup, PMU Eyeliner goes through several healing stages. Initially, the area will be swollen and red. This is perfectly normal and will subside after a few days. Once the swelling goes down, you may notice that the color of the permanent makeup looks pretty intense. Don't worry; this is also part of the healing process, and the color will soften over time.

Attention Please
We strongly advise prospective new clients to book their PMU Eyeliner appointments at least 3-4 months before vacations, weddings, and special occasions. This allows adequate time for healing and a Retouch Appointment 6-8 Weeks before your event.

Benefits of PMU Eyeliner

Permanent makeup has become increasingly popular in recent years as more and more people seek to simplify their daily beauty routine. Permanent makeup eyeliner is a procedure that involves tattooing pigment into the lash line, creating the appearance of fuller, darker lashes. Unlike traditional cosmetic eyeliner, which can smear or smudge, permanent makeup stays put no matter what. This can be a significant advantage for busy people who don't have time to touch up their makeup throughout the day.

Is Permanent Eyeliner Safe?

The short answer is yes. Permanent Makeup Eyeliner is considered safe. One of our qualified artists performs the procedure using sterile equipment; the pigments used are FDA-approved. Additionally, Permanent Makeup Eyeliner typically lasts for several years before needing to be touched up. Of course, as with any cosmetic procedure, some risks are involved. These include infection, skin irritation, and allergic reactions. However, these risks are relatively rare and can be minimized by discussing allergies or medical concerns during the consultation and following aftercare instructions.

PMU Precare & Aftercare

Fifty percent of the outcome of your brows is dependent upon proper aftercare. In order for your new brows to heal properly (and look their best) these Pre & Post Care Instructions found below are very IMPORTANT.

PLEASE NOTE: Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be anywhere from 20-40% darker and bolder in color and 15% thicker. This can last up to 10 days after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place (This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures). The treated area may feel sunburned afterward, but minimal discomfort should be. During the initial healing period, the skin should be minimal scabbing or flaking. If there is some scabbing or flaking, do not pick, and allow the scab or dry skin to come off on its own.

The healing process takes about 6-8 weeks when the true color is evident. During this process, it will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength, and it is only after 6-8 weeks that your retouch/adjustment can be made.
