What are Nano-Brows?

Nano brows are the latest trend in permanent makeup (PMU). Unlike microblading, which involves making tiny incisions in the skin and filling them with pigment, nano brows use a special machine to deliver pigment through a needle that is only a fraction of the size of a human hair. This allows for much smaller, more precise strokes that look incredibly natural. Nano brows can create hair-like strokes, fill in sparse brows, or add color and definition to the brows. They are also less likely to cause scarring or hyperpigmentation than other forms of PMU.

Nano brows can last anywhere from 1.5 -2.5 years. However, it is important to note that the longevity of nano brows will vary depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare routine. If you have oily skin or regularly swim or sweat, your nano brows may not last as long. Yearly touchups can keep your investment looking fresh. In general, nano brows are a great option for long-lasting results.

How are They Done?

Nano Brows are a type of semi-permanent makeup that can give you the look of Fuller, thicker eyebrows. If you're considering nano brows, it's important to understand the process and what you can expect. Here's a step-by-step guide to getting nano brows:

The first step is to consult our brow artist, who specializes in semi-permanent makeup. This will ensure that you are a good candidate for the treatment and that your expectations are realistic.
Our artist will assess your current eyebrow situation and discuss your desired look during the consultation. This is where we design a bespoke treatment plan based on your individual needs.
Once you've decided to proceed with the treatment, the next step is to prep the area. This includes cleansing and numbing the skin so the treatment will be as comfortable as possible.
Next, our artist will use a small tool to create hair-like strokes on the skin. This part of the process can take up to two hours, depending on the desired results.
After the treatment, our artist will apply a soothing ointment to the area and give you aftercare instructions. It's important to follow these instructions carefully to avoid complications.
This type of PMU is done in two treatments, usually 6-8 weeks apart. Nano brows typically last for one to two years, after which time they will gradually fade away. Touch-ups may be required sooner if you have oily skin or use skincare with harsh chemicals on the brow area.

Are Nano-Brows Safe?

Are nano brows safe? The simple answer is yes, nano brows are a safe way to enhance your eyebrows. Nano brows are a new type of PMU that uses a special nanoneedle to create ultra-fine, natural-looking strokes. This type of eyebrow tattooing is much less invasive than traditional methods, and the results look very natural. In addition, nano brows are less likely to cause scarring or damage to the skin around the eyebrows. However, it is important to consult with our eyebrow artist before getting nano brows to disclose any allergies or concerns, as there is always a risk of infection associated with any type of PMU.

PMU Precare & Aftercare

Fifty percent of the outcome of your brows is dependent upon proper aftercare. In order for your new brows to heal properly (and look their best) these Pre & After Care Instructions found below are very IMPORTANT.

Precare for Nano-Brows

Do not work out 24 hours before the procedure.
No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before the procedure.
Avoid sun and tanning one week before the procedure.
Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure.
No brow waxing, tinting, microdermabrasion, or chemical peels one week before.
Discontinue Retin-A 4 Weeks Prior.
Do not use AHA skincare products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your procedure.
Cannot have been on Accutane within 1 year of procedure. It thins the epidermis and can damage the skin if we are cutting.
No Botox around the brow area 4 weeks prior.
Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

Aftercare for Nano-Brows

Do not touch brows or the surrounding area for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, clean the brow area with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and water with freshly washed hands morning and night (2x/day). Do not use a washcloth or sponge, and clean the area by moving in the direction of the hair growth.
Allow eyebrows to air dry before applying a thin layer of Phi special aftercare serum.
Apply a very thin layer of the aftercare serum given (for the number of days recommended by your artist) with freshly washed hands or a Q tip. <<Do not apply Vaseline, Petroleum, A & D ointments, or Bepanthen to the area as the risk of infection is very high>>
DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss.
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, pool (chlorine is irritating), sauna, steam rooms, hot showers, and/or hot baths for 3 weeks.
Avoid physical effort, gym, and any other activity that may cause excessive sweating for at least 5 and up to 14 days.
Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.
NO makeup or skincare products are to be used on the treated area for two weeks.
NO Botox around the brow area for 4 weeks after.
NO facials, chemical treatments, and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
After 14 days, once the area has healed completely, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading. (At least SPF 30, if not 50)
Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for 2 weeks after your procedure.
Avoid Retin-A close to the brow area.

Nano-Brows are NOT Recommended for Any Client Who...

Pregnant
Nursing (no exceptions)
Diabetic
Previous Permanent Makeup on the brow area, unless the density of color is 30% or less
Viral infections and/or diseases
Epilepsy
A Pacemaker or major heart problems
Had an Organ transplant
Tendency towards keloids
Seborrheic dermatitis
Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)
Sick (cold, flu, etc.)
Had Botox in the past 2 weeks
Have upcoming vacations or special occasions planned shortly after
Used Accutane (oral acne medication) in the past year
Allergic to anesthetic (Lidocaine) or nickel
Blood thinner medications
Oily Skin
Sensitive skin that tends to bleed easily

PLEASE NOTE: Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be anywhere from 20-40% darker and bolder in color and 15% thicker. This can last up to 10 days after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place (This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures). The treated area may feel sunburned afterward, but minimal discomfort should be. During the initial healing period, the skin should be minimal scabbing or flaking. If there is some scabbing or flaking, do not pick, and allow the scab or dry skin to come off on its own.

The healing process takes about 6-8 weeks when the true color is evident. During this process, it will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength, and it is only after 6-8 weeks that your retouch/adjustment can be made.

Nano Brow vs. Microblading

Nano Brows vs. Ombre Brows

How long does an appointment take for Nano-Brows?

Nano Brows are a type of PMU that is done using a machine. Nano brows can last up to 2.5 years, but touch-ups may be needed after about 18 months. The initial session appointment for nano brows takes about 2 and a half hours. This includes consultation, numbing the area, and doing the actual nano stroke. Aftercare instructions will be given at the end of the appointment. A second appointment is required 6-8 weeks after the initial visit. Nano brows are a great way to achieve fuller-looking eyebrows without having to use makeup every day.

Are Nano Brows painful?

Nano brows are a relatively new type of PMU, and as with any cosmetic treatment, there is always some element of discomfort involved. However, most people who have nano brows reported that the pain is minimal and brief. Our artists who perform the procedure are also experienced in ensuring that our clients are as comfortable as possible. In addition, we apply numbing cream to help reduce any discomfort. While some initial discomfort may involve getting nano brows, most people find it well worth the results.
