What is Microshading, and How is it Done?
Microshading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique that creates the illusion of fuller, denser eyebrows. The procedure involves using a fine needle to deposit pigment into the skin and replicate the look of penciled-in eyebrows. Microshading can be done with either a machine or a blade, both give a soft powdery, finished look to your brows.
The first step in microshading is to consult with one of our professionals to discuss your desired look and realistic outcomes based on your skin type. Once you've decided to proceed, the next step is to choose the pigment color that will best suit your natural skin tone and hair color and the perfect eyebrow shape that suits your face.
Next, our artist will clean and numb the area to be treated. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, our artist will use a blade or machine to insert pigment into the skin. The penetration depth will vary depending on your desired results and skin type.
Once the first shading pass is done, we can add additional numbing cream if you feel discomfort. Although most clients say the initial application of numbing cream is sufficient, pain tolerance is different for everyone.
After the microshading is complete, the area will be cleaned, and an antibacterial ointment will be applied. You can expect some redness, swelling, and discomfort in the treated area immediately after the procedure, but this should subside within a few days. It typically takes 7-14 days for the treated area to heal.

Microshading Healing Stages
Microshading, like any other type of permanent makeup, goes through several healing stages. Initially, the eyebrow area will be red. This is perfectly normal and will subside after a few days. Once the redness goes down, you may notice that the permanent makeup color looks pretty intense. Don’t worry; this is also part of the healing process, and the color will soften over time as your skin heals. In the meantime, you can help speed up the healing process by keeping the area clean and applying the recommended ointment. After your touch-up session, you can enjoy your beautiful new eyebrows for years.
Attention Please
We strongly advise prospective new clients to book their Microshading appointments at least 3-4 months before vacations, weddings, and special occasions. This allows adequate time for healing and a Retouch Appointment 6-8 Weeks before your event.
Microshading Eyebrow Shapes
Microshading eyebrow is a method of tattooing to fill in the brows and give the brow a natural, flawless look. Many arch shapes can be achieved through microshading, but how do you choose the perfect one? We like to find the ideal brow shape by following the golden ratio. This mathematical formula has been used for centuries to create everything from works of art to buildings, and it can also be applied to eyebrows.
To find the perfect eyebrow shape, we use the golden ratio and an eyebrow ruler, we start by drawing a line from the outer corner of your eye to the top of your brow. Then, draw another line from the center of your pupil to the top of your brow. The point where these two lines intersect is where your brow should start. From there, we simply follow the natural curve of your brow until we reach the desired fullness.
Keep in mind that everyone's face is different, so we may need to adjust the location of these points slightly to achieve the perfect microshaded eyebrow shape for you.

Benefits of Microshading
When it comes to microshading, many benefits make this type of permanent makeup attractive to many people.
So, if you're looking for a way to save time on your morning beauty routine and achieve fuller-looking brows, microshading may be the perfect solution.
Is Microshading Safe?
Microshading is a popular eyebrow tattooing technique that uses a small handheld tool to deposit pigment into the skin. Unlike traditional tattooing, microshading does not penetrate as deeply into the skin, which helps to minimize the risk of complications. Microshading can be performed using various pigments, including natural plant-based and safe synthetic ones. As a result, microshading is generally considered to be a safe cosmetic procedure. However, as with any type of tattooing, there is always a slight risk of infection or other complications. Therefore, it is essential to always be transparent with your artist about any allergies or concerns you may have during the consultation.
Microshading Precare & Aftercare
Fifty percent of the outcome of your brows is dependent upon proper aftercare. In order for your new brows to heal properly (and look their best), these Pre & After Care Instructions found below are very IMPORTANT.
PLEASE NOTE: Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be anywhere from 20-40% darker and bolder in color and 15% thicker. This can last up to 10 days after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place (This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures). The treated area may feel sunburned afterward, but minimal discomfort should be. During the initial healing period, the skin should be minimal scabbing or flaking. If there is some scabbing or flaking, do not pick, and allow the scab or dry skin to come off on its own.
The healing process takes about 6-8 weeks when the true color is evident. During this process, it will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength, and it is only after 6-8 weeks that your retouch/adjustment can be made.
Removing Previous Artist's Work
At Mireya Beauty Lab, we pride ourselves on being able to work with any client, regardless of their previous experience. However, if you have brows that were microshaded by another artist or have lingering pigment, we may need to do a removal session before starting on your new brows. Each artist has a unique style and technique, and we want to ensure that your brows are consistent with our style. Additionally, we want to ensure that the pigment is removed evenly so that your new microshading will look its best. Typically, this process can be done in one session, but we will work with you to ensure you are happy with your new brows. Book a consultation to ensure we can work with your current eyebrow situation.
